Preparing Pets for Children

After finding out I was pregnant with Baby #1, I was concerned as to how my dog, a Boxer, and my cat would react to the new addition to the family. While preparing the baby room, the cat decided to let us know how she felt about all the changes. She decided to pee in the closet in the nursery. (Cats can be very difficult when it comes to change.) We reminded the cat where her litter box was located in the house. After that we did not let the cat into the nursery unless my husband or I were home. The dog was also only allowed in the room while we were home. After the baby was born, while I was still in the hospital my husband brought a blanket home to allow the animals to smell the babys scent. When we brought the baby home, the dog did not know what to think. He was curious. The cat did not care at all. Since the initial problem with the cat, we have not had any concerns. Everyone is now use to our new addition, and everyone gets along.

it is natures instincts in animals to attack if it feels threatened. a new baby in the house is always a threat.

no matter how much you trust the animal i would get rid of it

that is my opinion
